Narrative: A non-resident was archery deer hunting on private land in the town of Chaplin. He returned his hunting equipment to the vehicle and began to set up a hang .on portable tree stand using an aluminum ladder. While climbing the ladder with the stand, the ladder kicked out and the victim fell 15 feet to the ground. The victim was not wearing a safety harness or fall restraint device and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to the hospital by Lifestar and was in critical condition with paralysis of the lower body.

Cause(s) of Accident: Failure to use fall restraint device.

Narrative: Victim was pheasant hunting with three other hunters on opening day of the small game season at the Higganum Meadows Wildlife Management Area in the town of Haddam. While walking towards his vehicle, the victim heard a shot and turned to see where the shot came from. He was struck in the face with three shotgun pellets, receiving wounds to the forehead and above both eyebrows. Victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and released.
Legal Action Taken: None. Unable to identify shooter.
Cause(s) of Accident: Victim out of sight of shooter.

Narrative: Two hunters were deer hunting on private land in the town of Ellington during the muzzleloader season. The victim was struck by a projectile below the knee and received a non life-threatening injury. Incident remains under investigation by the Connecticut State Police. Further details are not available at this time.
