Senate Passes SB 1402 Substitute

The Senate voted today and PASSED SB 1402 (26-10)  w/ House "A" the negotiated substitute. The vote was essentially the same as the previous vote in the Senate and means little due to conflicting messages from sportsmen. The REAL vote in the Senate was the first on the substitute language adding "assault weapons", a week ago. The bill now goes to the Governor and our information says he will sign it.

The time has come to stop sending messages to the House and Senate on SB 1402 -send messages to ADD $$ to the Firearms Trafficking Task Force. A Thank You is appropriate to all Representative and some Senators. The vote tally in the Senate for tonight has not been posted yet.

Thanks to everyone who communicated with legislators - Rest assured it made the difference. See the Message below: Communicate NOW! Solidify our Victory! Two days left until the end!!

Subject: Gun Trafficking Task Force

 Bob,

The State Senate has passed what was the Assault Weapon Ban. The good news is that due to our efforts in the House, not a single new gun has been added to the 1993 list. Senator Sullivan, Jepsen, and A.G. Blumenthal have lost again! Perhaps someday they will get the message to leave sportsman alone and go after the criminals.

The budget debate is still going on. I would ask again that sportsman call the Governor and legislative leaders and tell them to add the $250,000 for the Gun Trafficking Task Force. Tell them to go after the criminals and the thugs and leave us alone. We have won the debate this year but we must keep up the message that responsible gun owners believe that criminals belong in jail!

The more successful the task force is the less we need new gun laws that only hurt the honest citizens of Ct.

If Senator Sullivan, Jepsen, and Speaker Lyons don't put the money in the budget it will prove that they don't care about making our streets safer.

Call them now, we must keep up the pressure, It is responsible gun
owners who are fighting to keep our streets safe.

Rep. Ronald San Angelo, 131st. District
